Word From the Chief

New Lodge Leadership

Brothers,

It is my deepest pleasure to serve as your 2008-2009 Lodge Chief. Your unending support and enthusiasm has kept the original OA spirit, instilled in the organization by Dr. E. Urner Goodman, alive in our Lodge and in turn shaped excellent youth leaders that will continue learning and sharing their knowledge with others. It is this experienced mentorship that will keep our Lodge growing and serving our council, districts, troops, and communities.

We cannot possibly serve others effectively unless we are all working towards a common goal or purpose. I would like to see the Lodge take another few steps forward by: working hand in hand with the Council in creating a meaningful promotional video that highlights the numerous activities that can be experienced at Camp Frank Rand, provide more than adequate training in subjects including ethics, creating meaningful events, and Cub Scout outreach programs, and by attaining Quality Lodge for the third year in a row.

In the following months I would like to expand on Freddy’s work and bring us all back to the roots of our Organization; Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. Once again it is my honor to serve as your Lodge Chief for 2009.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Seth A. Hunter

Lodge Patch History

Yah-Tah-Hey-Si-Kess Lodge #66 has been around for many years and with that comes one thing we all enjoy, PATCHES!  Bill Erickson has been heading up a personal project to preserve the history of the lodge's patches along with the guidance of Relf Price, Carl Cataline and Tony Bertram.  Though this is a work in progress, they have done a fantastic job documenting our lodge's great history and art.  If you are interested in looking at these patches click the following link.  There will also be a permanent link above on the menu bar and in the lodge history section of the site.

National News

As National Chief of the Order of the Arrow, Jake Wellman has gotten to meet with the President of the United States twice during the past six months. In the picture to the left Jake was in Washington to help present the BSA Report to the Nation to the President.

Jake is an Eagle Scout, Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, National Chief of the OA, a member of the Cherokee Chapter of the Yah-Tah-Hey-Si-Kess Lodge, and an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 174 in Albuquerque . While Jake has received many honors, he has also cheerfully served in almost every scouting leadership position he could. To name a few, he has been PL, SPL, Chapter Chief, Lodge Chief, Section Chief, and now National Chief of the OA.  Surely some of these positions has their share of irksome tasks and all had weighty responsibilities, but Jake never complains.
